is being able to tell someone something
and know it will be kept to themselves...
is being able to know that you won't be
violated...
is being able to know that you have
that friend by you when you need that shoulder...
is being able to know that everything
will be okay...
is being able to know that we must
trust ourselves first...
is being able to know that things
happen for a reason....
And Finally,
is being able to know God is always
there when we need Him. Trust is a big thing for us and to be able to
trust someone can take a while for some. When one is violated, they
lose that trust in people, and their guard is up. They wonder how
they can trust again, and so they are very cautious to whom they will
trust again. We must trust ourselves first in order to learn to
re-trust someone else. When we have gained that trust in people,
including a close friend, we can feel relaxed that we can look
towards to them at times. The best of all is that we have ourselves
to trust, because we our own best friends!

For someone who has depression, its hard, because we just need to force ourselves harder to do the things that we need to do. We are not alone and it can be conquered, and each person heals differently. One day the stigma will go and we can be able to talk more about it like the way we can talk about cancer. With depression, we just got to take it "inch by inch...one shaky step at a time" Edgar Allan Poe.
What is
depression?
There are different types of depression
from mild to severe, but either way, we can conquer it...
Sometimes we feel that we cannot even
wake up, because we don’t have that energy to get out of bed, it is
okay, we just need to push ourselves to get up and go on with our
day, taking one thing at a time and creating small goals for that
day....
Sometimes we wonder if anyone really
understands because you cannot snap out of it, but only through
educating the people around us, they will get a better understanding
on what it is about...
Sometimes we feel that there is a dark
cloud over us and we cannot get out of it, but there is a light at
the end of the tunnel, not to worry, everything will work itself
out...
Sometimes we feel that our moods are
off and don’t understand why, because we just want to cry, but the
week is going great, that is okay, having a good cry can relieve it,
and help you, don’t keep anything inside...
Sometimes we just don’t want to do
anything, that is okay, it is okay to have a day of nothing and just
watching movies all day, you are treating yourself to a quiet and
relaxing day...
Sometimes we will have negative
thoughts, but that is our negative self-talk that we are used to, we
must turn it around by learning positive self-talk, it is not easy at
first, but it does get easier with practice...
Sometimes we just feel tired all the
time, just doing something physical will help make us feel better...
Sometimes we just want to talk to
someone who gets it, going to support groups or seeing a therapist to
help us through those problems gives us relief and a reminder that we
are okay...
Sometimes it can be a chemical
imbalance, and medication regulates the chemicals in order to have a
productive life, but we must learn the tools to get through the
depression itself, because medication won’t solve the depression...
Sometimes we feel that we have failed
because it came back, but it is a relapse, it happens to the best of
us, and it is nothing to be ashamed of...
And finally...
Sometimes we feel alone, but really we
are not alone, depression is a mental illness, and so, we must strive
to get through, and teach people that it is not a stigma, but it is
as regular as someone having diabetes, heart disease etc..., we must
learn the tools to get through it and live our lives happily...
Victory is not always about winning, its just doing your best. Doing our best and knowing that we did our best is enough and that is Victory!
Victory
accomplishing a big task...
accomplishing a big problem with a solution...
accomplishing goals that were created...
Being free from people who were hurtful, and being able to forgive them as well...
Being able to get through a bad day by turning it around to a good day...
Being able to stand up for what is right and getting through it...
And Finally,
Being able to love yourself and trust yourself in a world of uncertainty and struggles. We are never alone, God is always there and cheering us on and through Him we have achieved victory! We sometimes doubt whether we can do a task or get through a bolder that crosses our lives, but we can do it...it may have happened for a reason, a lesson for us to learn, but God never gives us anything that we can't handle, and so, we must push through it, and know that we can pass through the bolder and achieve Victory!
February is Heart Month, and in part it is the month where Valentines Day falls into play. Love has all sorts of meanings, but we must also cherish those who are around us and love another as yourself.
Love...
Is about giving that emotion back to a loved one...
Is about spending time with your family and/or friends...
Is about giving of self to the one in need...
Is about turning the other cheek even though it hurts...it is the right thing to do...
Is about giving a child a new home through adoption to a loving family...
Is about bringing a child into the world and watch him grow...
Is about spending time with your child...they will remember that when they grow up...
Is about giving a smile to a stranger who then smiles back...
Is about loving ourselves...
Is about spending time with your pet, they always love you back!
Is about giving a kind word...
And finally,
Is about taking care of ourselves. We rarely take time for ourselves with the business of the world these days. We always get the message of “go go go”, and not “hold on, take it easy, there is always tomorrow”. Sometimes we feel guilty to take time for ourselves because of the demands out there. We must refocus our energy by taking one day at a time, and one thing at a time. When we do this, we feel relaxed, knowing that we took time out for ourselves and being able to give to those in need as well.
